exquisite grid

This project relies on user-generated content to put a modern spin on a classic surrealist game. The “exquisite corpse” involved three players. The first player would take a piece of paper, fold it into thirds, and draw on the top third. This was then passed along, with the subsequent players filling in the remaining sections. The only rule was that you could only see a quarter inch of the previous player’s drawing.

What I have dubbed the exquisite grid is my digital spin-off of this timeless activity. Instead of restricting the players to three sections, I have expanded the game to be two-dimensional. Currently, there are two versions of 3×3 grids, black and white, and color. View the gallery or play yourself.
